How to use the custom connector
Operations Center’s Power Automate connector brings automation to the next level with two powerful flow types: reacting to external triggers and kicking off workflows based on work item changes.
In the first scenario, think of it as a digital dispatcher—when a new Microsoft Form submission rolls in, a Power Automate flow jumps into action, creating or updating a work item in Operations Center. For example, if a security team submits an incident report, the system instantly logs the details, fills out the title and description, and can even prioritize and assign the task based on the nature of the issue—no more manual data entry—just smooth, efficient automation.
The second scenario flips the script: instead of external triggers, Operations Center itself becomes the catalyst. Suppose a work item is updated, escalated, or reassigned. In that case, Power Automate can fire off notifications, sync data with other platforms, or launch follow-up workflows, ensuring no critical task falls through the cracks.
To keep things tidy, correlation strings help link related form submissions to a single work item. If multiple users report the same security hiccup, their submissions get grouped under one umbrella, preventing duplicate tickets and keeping the workflow streamlined because the only thing worse than a security breach is drowning in a sea of redundant work items.
