Automated Asset Syncing from Security Center to Operations Center
In this article, you’ll learn how the latest Operations Center Plugin helps teams manage their assets more efficiently—thanks to the new Automatic Sync feature.
This feature allows entities from Security Center to sync directly into Operations Center, saving time and reducing manual effort.
Let’s start by exploring how resources are organized in Operations Center.
Resources are grouped into three main categories: People, Equipment, and Places. You can easily navigate to each category using the sidebar.
Each category contains different types of resources, based on your operational needs.
Now, let’s look at how the Automatic Sync works.
When you trigger a sync, entities like cameras, servers, and doors are imported into Operations Center with just a simple click.
A new resource type is created automatically in the Equipment category and is marked as coming from Security Center.
Each synced Security Center entity becomes an Operations Center resource within this type, and a layout with key fields is created — fields such as Equipment ID are automatically filled in.
These synchronized fields cannot be edited in Operations Center, so data stays consistent and aligned with Security Center and is managed there.
Even though the synced fields from Security Center are read-only, users can add additional fields in Operations Center, enabling richer asset management and better internal tracking.
With this new plugin, Security Center users gain a powerful, integrated asset management tool — seamlessly built into the Genetec ecosystem — enabling more effective oversight of resources and operations from a single unified platform.
