Automated Asset Syncing from Security Center to Operations Center
Resource Sync: Keep systems aligned
With Resource Sync, entities from Security Center are automatically synchronized as resources in Operations Center. This ensures that your people, places, and locations stay up to date across systems without manual updates.
Notes
- Not all entity types are supported initially. Additional types will be made available in future releases. Currently, only cameras, areas, and servers are available for synchronization.
- Synchronization is one-way. Information flows from Security Center into Operations Center, and resources in Operations Center are read-only to guarantee consistency.
Configuration
Resource syncing is managed in Config Tool through the Operations Center plugin.
- Open the Properties tab.
- In the table titled Synchronization of entities to Operations Center, you will see a copy of the Service user connections from Security Center to Operations Center.
- Select the Service user for the Operations Center where you want to create resources.
- Click the pencil icon to open the configuration dialog.
The Service user must have the ResourceAdministrator role in Operations Center. Click here to read more about how to assign roles in Operations Center.
The first time you configure syncing, you will be asked to log in to Operations Center in a dialog. Once you complete this step, the role is granted automatically to the Service user. To complete this process, the configuring user must already have the necessary permissions to grant roles.
Full Sync
A full synchronization takes place in the following situations:
- When the plugin role starts.
- When Resource Sync configuration is changed.
- When a manual sync is requested from the plugin’s properties page.
During a full sync:
- All selected entities from Security Center are loaded and uploaded as resources in Operations Center.
- If a resource does not exist, it is created automatically. Resource types, custom fields, and layouts are also created as needed.
- Relationships between entities in Security Center are reflected as links between resources in Operations Center.
- Any edits made to synchronized entities in Security Center are applied to the corresponding resource in Operations Center. These updates are tracked in the audit trail.
The layouts created during this process can be adjusted after they are generated by the plugin.
Continuous Background Sync
After Resource Sync has been configured and the plugin role is running, synchronization continues in the background. This ensures that resources remain accurate and up to date over time. Background sync automatically:
- Updates properties.
- Uploads new resources.
- Removes obsolete resources.
- Updates links between resources.
